Dorking Badminton Club

* COVID-19 UPDATE - SEPTEMBER *

We're pleased to announce that we are finally in a position to offer social badminton to our adult members and 'Gold' Juniors as from Wednesday 9th September, (8:10pm - 9:30pm).

We are also able to recommence the Junior coaching sessions at Ashcombe School on Wednesdays evenings as from 23rd September, and our Satellite Club at Dorking Sports Centre on a day and date yet to be determined (but likely to be a different afternoon to last season).

As you would naturally expect, it comes with certain clauses compared to previous seasons, including the need to pre-book your place for each session (of the ADULT club nights).

Click here for instructions on how to reserve your place, and a full list of guidelines which must be adhered to.

Junior members need not pre-book. We will assume their attendance each week, and they will be assigned to a bubble of 4 players and a specific court for EACH new session. Therefore, it is crucial that you notify us in advance if your son/daughter will not be present.

ABOUT OUR CLUB

Dorking Badminton Club was established in 1903 and is still going strong with a healthy adult membership, and a thriving Junior Section.

We offer friendly and competitive badminton from September to April, and currently run two separate Sections; one for Adults and one for Juniors.

We welcome new members to both sections of the club, although we are unable to offer coaching to adults, so the Seniors section is not really suitable for beginners. For adults who have never played the sport before, we recommend you start with a beginners course which can be found in many venues by searching in the Discover Badminton section on the Badminton England website.

With SIX teams (2 Mens, 2 Ladies & 2 Mixed) among our ranks, we [normally] compete in a variety of local leagues including the Surrey, Guildford, Woking and Sutton leagues.

The 2020-2021 Seniors' season commences 9th September 2020, and continues every Wednesday from 8:05-9:30pm* until April 2021. [*normally 10pm, but currently curtailed for additional cleaning to take place].
Please note - you MUST be a member (or invited for a trial), AND currently, you MUST pre-book a place to attend each individual club night to ensure we stay within the limited capacity for COVID19 rules.

Inter-club league matches are now permitted, but it is not yet clear how many leagues will operate this season and how many clubs have sufficient players to participate (or a venue to play in).

The new Juniors' season will commence on Wednesday 23rd September 2020, from 6-6:55pm or 7:05-8pm (depending on group). We also have a satellite club at Dorking Sports Centre on [TBC] afternoons - XXpm, which will start on [TBC].
Again - please note - you MUST be a member of the club. These sessions are not casual 'turn up and pay-as-you-play'. Click here for more details of the junior program.
